I was wondering if someone could shed some light on why the curriculum for phonics/word study stops at grade 3. Although there is still a roadmap obviously supplied through the continuum, it would be helpful if there was a set curriculum as there already exists one for K-3. Any help is appreciated!

The curriculum continues using the Literacy Continuum. The curriculum in all of the Phonics Lessons is the Continuum. The Minilessons Guides provide ways of teaching for those goals and behaviors found in the Continuum. They teach the lesson cycle that is used for any grade level. The lesson templates and prototypes found in the 3rd grade word study minilesson guide could be used for lessons beyond grade 3 if needed. The Fountas and Pinnell Comprehensive PSW Study Guide has the instructional language for the principles taught at each grade level. The teacher can select the activity for teaching and applying the principle found in the Minilesson Guide. The main changes beyond grade 3 are the complexities of words and word parts in each category. The word-solving actions are basically the same. The focus for lessons is teaching for fluent flexibility in word solving while reading and writing.
So, you already have the curriculum! Best wishes for success!
