Our district received our new 3rd Grade Shared Reading materials and there are only 10 big books in the collection. I have teachers asking why there are so few books and what are they supposed to do for shared reading for the rest of the year once they finish those in their balanced literacy block?

The Collection Guide or System Guide that accompanied your books explains how to use the SR collection. There are 10 enlarged texts to be used for many lessons throughout the year. The Getting Started video found in your Online Resources is helpful in explaining how to use your SR materials.

Suggestions about other texts to include SR in your classrooms can be found in the teacher resource, Guided Reading, chapter 4.

Best wishes as you begin to use your SR materials this year!
