We have not officially started LLI, but we are going to be starting within the next couple of weeks. Before we start,
I was just wondering what to do if you have students working at a certain level, but they are not ready to move up to the next level after the 10 lessons. What are the options for those students?

FAQ: https://fpblog.fountasandpinnell.com/faq-friday-1-26-18

The first thing is to reflect on the teaching and implementation factors to make sure those are not impacting the rate of learning. In the Online Resources you can find an Administrators'' Tool and a Teacher Reflection to guide your thinking.

Next analyze more closely the lesson record observations and Reading Records using the Guide for Observing and Noting Reading Behaviors to note any patterns of behaviors that may hinder the rate of progress. Students should be reading with higher rates of accuracy, fluency, and comprehension on the second reading of texts. In your observation notes during instruction are the students demonstrating evidence of learning? Compare your notes with the behaviors expected in the Literacy Continuum. Look at the level of lessons you are teaching and the next level of lessons to see if there are major shifts in thinking that need to be a focus of instruction before moving or if they can be a focus within lessons at the next level.

You are trying to pinpoint exactly WHY the student or group is not ready to move. Which behaviors in the Continuum must be controlled before moving to the next lesson? Focus instruction there. Check out the BLOG at https://fpblog.fountasandpinnell.com/what-is-responsive-teaching to provide more information.

Best wishes for success!
