Hi there,

We are implementing LLI and guided reading at my school.

Once my students are past level E in guided reading I stop choral reading and encourage them to read at their own pace. I work my way around to each student during the guided reading lesson to provide support and prompting-but the others read silently or whisper read until it is their turn to read with me.

Is this appropriate for LLI or should it be Choral reading at all levels?

Fountas and Pinnell do not recommend choral reading at any level during guided reading or in LLI lessons unless there is a specific purpose for it. Each student should read at his or her own rate for fluent reading.

Best wishes for success!
