All children deserve access to an authentic, rich text base in their classroom. The texts they encounter in their literacy education must be varied, well-written, engaging, accessible, and plentiful. Creating a rich text base of high-quality books in the school and within each classroom takes time, planning, and collaboration among the school team, BUT it is a critical, “must have” element in supporting children’s literacy learning.
